6-Day Migration Wonder Safari in Northern Serengeti
The Great Migration is one of the most iconic and unforgettable experiences for wildlife and nature lovers. This journey takes you to Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s top-rated park, renowned for its vast plains and incredible wildlife. You'll also explore the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, offering stunning landscapes and rich biodiversity. In Tarangire National Park, you'll encounter ancient baobab trees and large elephant herds, while Lake Manyara National Park offers a unique chance to spot the famous tree-climbing lions.
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your accommodation in Arusha or directly from the airport and begin your journey to Tarangire National Park, located in the Manyara Region. As the sixth-largest national park in Tanzania, spanning approximately 2,600 square kilometers, Tarangire is renowned for its impressive herds of elephants and typically dry conditions—even more so than the Serengeti.
Despite its arid nature, the park features lush vegetation with sweeping grasslands, extensive acacia woodlands, and pockets of riverine forest. It’s also home to the majestic baobab trees, some of which are centuries old and capable of storing hundreds of liters of water.
In the afternoon, you’ll pause for lunch before continuing your game drive until sunset. Afterward, you’ll return to your lodge to unwind, enjoy dinner, perhaps take a swim, and reflect on the day’s incredible wildlife encounters.

Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most wildlife-rich areas on the planet. Spanning nearly 15,000 square kilometers, it's home to over two million grazing animals, 4,000 lions, 1,000 leopards, 550 cheetahs, and around 500 bird species. On this day, you’ll witness one of nature’s most spectacular events—the Great Migration—as countless wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and elands move across the plains in search of water and fresh pasture. This awe-inspiring journey follows seasonal rainfall and nutrient-rich grass growth across the ecosystem.
Lunch will be served picnic-style during your game drive. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at your lodge to relax, enjoy dinner, and reflect on the unforgettable experiences of the day.

Day 4: Full Game Drive at Northern Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will embark on a full-day game drive in the northern region of Serengeti National Park to witness the Great Migration—one of the longest overland migrations in the world, covering approximately 800 kilometers (500 miles). The southern part of this migration route includes the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where around half a million wildebeests are born between January and March.
As the dry season begins in March, about 1.5 million wildebeests and 250,000 zebras begin their journey northward toward the Masai Mara. Along the way, the herds must cross the Grumeti and Mara Rivers, where approximately 3,000 crocodiles lie in wait. For every wildebeest caught by the crocodiles, many others tragically drown in the swift currents.
You will have a packed lunch to enjoy during a stop in your safari vehicle before continuing the game drive. By late afternoon, you will head to your lodge in central Serengeti to relax, dine, and reflect on the unforgettable experiences of the day.
